Thems The Breaks!
Was part of the UK Parliamentary FC team playing the Ugandan MPs this morning down at Burton Court, in a game reffed by ITV's Beat the Star's favourite referee Dermot Gallagher.Well I say I was part of the team, but sadly my appearance lasted all of 5 mins - my first save left me with a finger injury that forced me off the pitch and out of the game.
Unfortunately the injury seems worse than I first thought - two breaks and a dislocation to be precise! Interestingly it didn't really hurt that much till I saw the x-ray!
The second break is a particularly bad one as somehow it seems to have almost totally sheared off just above the knuckle, or as the doctor put it "it's mushed"! (I presume that is the technical medical term!)
But it's just one of those things. I did say at the game that worse things happen at sea - but then the Minister for Shipping pointed out that this claim was completely unfounded based on the most recent figures for incidents at sea, so I am happy to take that back! ;-)
Thanks also to the brilliant NHS staff who patched me up - nice to see the Government's investment is making such a difference. I would say "seeing it first hand", but in the circumstances, I'd better not!
Also on the upside, it does mean I'm unable to do anymore leafleting for the local elections.
(PS Well done to the UK MPs for winning 1-0 with a last minute winner.)

I got smashed in the face with an elbow by a member of my own team whilst my Labour Club were playing the local Conservative Future group last week. Left me with a very swollen lip and a very nice, red astroturf. Nothing broken though.

I'm probably better than your alternatives with just one hand, Mez! :-)
Good to see that Hospital Hoaxer John Leech wasn't on the team.
He'd have proabably told you that the NHS was going to hell in a handcart and that any hospital that you considered attending was in fact threatened with closure.
