The Conservative and Unionist Party?

Whilst the Tories may be fraudulent or incompetent on a local level, at a national level they can always be trusted to surprise you with another crazy idea.

Especially if it involves Scotland.

After years of using Scotland as a it's own personal guinea pig for unpopular policies, the Tories have made gaffe after gaffe concerning Scotland under Cameron.

(I would list them all, but I don't have a spare few hours to do this, so here is a selection.)

They have one MP in Scotland who thinks they are clueless, and have now turned into a one woman party who herself acknowledges the Tories are woeful outside of the South East of England.

So what to do? Well the answer is obvious for the Conservative and Unionist party, isn't it?

Accept you are a spent force North of the Border and go into a Westminster partnership with the Scottish Nationalists - promising them independence from the rest of the UK.

This will a) ensure you secure your status as the party of (the South East of) England and b) get rid of all those voters in Scotland who will never ever vote for you ever again, in one fell swoop.

Genius.

I suppose we should have expected it after the Tories recently chose to prop up the Budget of an SNP administration which wants to separate Scotland from the rest of the UK, but it really is a joke for a party that claims in its very title to be "Unionist".

Er, they didn't need to prop any budget up. In case you've forgotten, Labour decided to show their entrenched opposition to the SNP budget by...refusing to vote at all.

What was it Gordon Brown said to Nick Clegg about refusing to vote at all not requiring the use of many principles at all?

Let me guess, you will be doing a piece on the death of Captain Birdseye http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7302554.stm

Wasn't planning to, but I was intrigued to see he appeared in the original production of The Boyfriend.

I appeared in a production of that at school - although I am sure not to the same standard as him!
