Celebs at the Quiz
Also at the quiz last night, we had a couple of actors present.I think we can all readily admit that there is a bit of a gulf in acting class between the wonderful Peter Capaldi and the not so wonderful Clemency Burton-Hill.
I have never been really won over by Clemency's acting "talents" - but maybe that is because I am still disturbed about that image of her character in Party Animals wanting to cover me in jelly and do unmentionable things to me whilst I sing The Red Flag wearing my glasses! :-/
But then I wasn't impressed by her performance on Question Time (as herself) either - or her "journalistic prowess" either come to that.
Last night she turned up, pouted, moaned she had to be up at 4am, spoke to a table of Tories said "Hello" and then left.
Capaldi on the other hand is brilliant, with a variety of cleverly crafted characters on his CV. In stark contrast to his blonde counterpart, he had scripted a two page speech performed in the style of his most recognisable character (to most of the political staff gathered last night) - Malcolm Tucker, Head of Communications and Spin for the Prime Minister in The Thick of It.
I found his performance especially funny, as earlier that day I had been playing football against Alistair Campbell - btw there's another celeb you may want to add to the list if you are still playing my Where's Wally style game!
(Incidentally it's Alistair's birthday today, so happy birthday to him if he is reading - he's always been quite personable when I've met him!)
Capaldi launched into a tirade against Parliamentary researchers and urged everyone to make a difference for all ex-serviceman who the Legion could assist. He also asked us to make a contribution at the end and in typical Malcolm Tucker fashion added we should:

"Come the f*** in, or f*** the f*** off!"
As Linsay observed, he certainly has a Glaswegian mouth...which he used to full affect during his speech!
Remarkably the audience lapped up the speech. The opportunity to be abused by a TV legend of a character - it was something of an honour.
He then finished with something called "Tucker's Law" which you may be familiar with if you watched the show - but if you aren't, I'm not going to repeat it because it's even ruder than the above outburst was!
To the right is a pic of Clemency Burton-Hill in full flow with some Tories - I would also like to point out that no alcohol had been consumed at this point! ;-)
