Faceless Use Facebook

News reaches us that the Lib Dems are urging their supporters/MPs to sign up to Facebook.

So far they have 561 members (that's members on Facebook, not Members in the House btw!), which shows just how successful they are being. :-/

That Ming Campbell he's so down with the kidz, isn't he?

"Babe, you're so hot right now xxx". Hmm.

The party has been encouraging people to sign up to Facebook, but hasn't mentioned the Lib Dem group or how to join it, to the best of my knowledge.

The Labour party group has 518 members.

Jealous?

"If you are a Facebook user yourself or you become one after reading this post and wondering what on earth it is all about, don’t forget to join the Liberal Democrat group (currently 561 members, rather more than Labour’s 490)."

That (from Lib Dem Voice article I linked to) would seem to suggest different.

This means either you are a lying deceiving Lib Dem (which I just can't believe), or that your "knowledge" is rubbish. Whichever.

My point is that the other parties aren't desperate enough to try and get people to join a group on Facebook backing their party. For example, I am on Facebook but am not a member of the Labour Party Group - as it's not what I use Facebook for.

And jealous of the Lib Dems? Don't make me laugh.

As I said before, I bet you will lose around half your seats at the next election. And it will be deserved too.

Stay alert for a second, I have an ego to fan.

This whole 'facebook in politics thing' started with my Cruddas 4 deputy group.

Thank you.

At least we now know who to blame. ;-)

My knowledge is rubbish then :)

My post was somewhat tongue-in-cheek, but could perhaps have done with some winks and exclamation makes to make that more clear.

Why is the party's online campaigning team encouraging people to engage with voters on facebook desparate? I think it's quite a neat idea, and one that Labour could learn from!

Can I be your friend on Facebook?

( ;-) )

I realise that when I am joking (most of the time) I can come across as being bitter and twisted.

Despite being bitter and twisted, I am usually just joking and don't mean offence by my cutting comments.

Find me on Facebook - easy to do - and I'll be your friend (and anyone else who's vaguely normal).

BTW, does anyone know what "poking" someone does. It sounds weird. ;-)
