Kerron Has a Girlfriend - Shocker

I have an admission to make. I have a girlfriend. I know this will thoroughly shock most of you, but it's true.

It's something I've actually been suppressing for a while now, but I think the time is probably right to put the announcement in the public domain. Her name is Gemma.

There are many reasons why I haven't said anything, even though we've been dating for just over a month or so now. Firstly, it's none of your business - it's my private life - but there has been much speculation about my current dating status. Also, despite everything, I do still really care about my ex-partner and don't want to call her unnecessary upset by reading this sort of stuff on my site - not that she probably cares, but I don't want to be insensitive.

Furthermore, there is another twist in the tail. Gemma is a Tory. :-/ Not a card carrying Conservative, or activist or anything, but a Tory voter nonetheless. But living in Ruislip I guess most people are. Interestingly though, she does believe in redistribution of wealth. Taking away from the rich and giving to the poor. One wonders if she is in the right party. I mean she says she hates Tony Blair, but I think she'd fit in quite nicely with the Labour Party in that respect. ;-) I will keep working on her. I'm sure there's an inner socialist battling to get out from within that harsh materialistic exterior. ;-)

I now fully expect a barrel-load of abuse from Paul Burgin about cross-party relationships, but let's face it, at least she isn't a Lib Dem. :-)

Anyway, Gemma is a TV extra by day (pictured above) so you may have seen her occasionally if you watch Eastenders/Hotel Babylon/Prime Suspect - although she is obviously a woman of principle as she has repeatedly turned down appearing on T4 in a bikini for money. Not sure if her objection was to the bikini or T4 actually. ;-)

And at weekends she works at John Lewis...a famous workers' co-operative. See I told you there was an inner socialist battling to get out! I cling to that hope!

We met at church through the musical we are currently both performing, What Peter Wanted, as she was my salsa partner. And now she has progressed onto being my personal line helper-outer in her spare time, which has been very helpful. Tickets are still available for Thursday, Friday and Saturday this week, incidentally!

So why mention it on my blog now? Well, as I said, I realise not mentioning anything continues to fuel the almost legendary status I have for being single and being desperately unlucky when it comes to women - I've come to rather enjoy it actually!

Also as we have been dating a few weeks now there's less chance of it being a flash in the pan relationship that I mention and then flickers out leaving me looking a wally for mentioning it (but give it time!). And Gemma is an important part of my life now, so I don't feel that comfortable keeping it a secret (I like being quite open about everything I think, say and do).

I also want to post some pics up from rehearsals at What Peter Wanted, and I realise some will make it fairly clear that me and Gemma are close so I'd rather be honest about it right now. Finally, we are due to go to our first official Council function together in the next few weeks, so it will be fairly public then anyway.

There you are. Announcement over.

I won't use abuse but smugness, well... ;)
Seriously mate, so long as you are both happy. In any case this action has invalidated any criticism of crosspartyamoreaphilia on my part.
That word just isn't going to take off is it :(

Looking forward to meeting her at Easter! ;)

A tory with an interest in redistribution.

Sounds like a Lib Dem.

"Interestingly though, she does believe in redistribution of wealth. Taking away from the rich and giving to the poor. One wonders if she is in the right party."

Um, she's definitely in the right party. You Labourites think you have a monopoly on 'caring for the poor'. We also care about the poor and needy, but we don't believe the socialist way is the right solution. Us Tories think long-term, you lefies think short term (i.e. quick vote-winning gimmicks)

"Us Tories think long-term"

How long term? Was 18 years in Government not long enough?

At 12:38 PM, Blogger Kerron said...

I think Gemma was talking about Robin Hood being a bit of an idol. I can't imagine his approach was particularly long term but thanks for that.

It's amazing the Tories now "care for the poor". I'm sure we really appreciate your belated concern. Thanks for the 80s and 90s btw, we loved that.

PS Anonymous, is that what the Lib Dems are believing this week??? Ahh, another shocker from Campbell at PMQs - at least some things never change. ;-)

Shame she couldn't pay the 25p though

Good for you Kerron.

Might I suggest the first birthday present you get her is not a Labour Party membership card. Maybe the next one, ok? :)

Am in agreement re. Tories caring for the poor. The history I studied last week was that they were more concerned about money and inflation and making rich people richer than unemployment and welfare benefits.

Wow. Good work. Alf.

At 10:03 AM, Blogger Paul Burgin said...

So whats her take on you being a member of the Labour Party, Kerron?

At 10:20 AM, Blogger Kerron said...

Louisa? Well she'll be OK about it once she starts reading about the history of the Labour movement. ;-)

I think people generally accept me for what I am, and for the principled view I take on life...even if they fundamentally disagree with me! :-)

At 11:53 AM, Blogger Paul Burgin said...

lol
You know who I mean, but I appreciate your answer.
With regards to Louisa, the thing I like about her politics is that it does involve a degree of socialism (I would say social democracy, but that phrase has been used by the Lib Dems in the past), it's just a pity that she can be naive about it, although I am sure she would say the same about us! ;)

At 12:16 PM, Blogger Kerron said...

Actually I'm a hardened old cynic. I don't think I'm naive at all. :-)

Don't tell us, it was the beard wot drew her in...?!!

Nice catch though, may your politics unite and not divide you!

Can I also say I howled with laughter at your remark "Thanks for the 80s and 90s btw, we loved that." genius!

At 2:12 PM, Blogger Kerron said...

Yes, the beard drew her in...it also draws in my breakfast and passing flies.

Nice. :-)

Two can play at that game. "Thanks for the great socialist consensus of the 50s, 60s and 70s"

Sarcasm aside, Thatcher saved Britain from the 1970s mess we were in (Winter of Discontent anyone? or maybe you guys are too young).

At 2:58 PM, Blogger Kerron said...

Yeah, am I being held responsible for the 50s, 60s and 70s now?

Bit harsh. Obviously you remember them very well "Tory!Tory!Tory" from your youth.

But given the state of the modern Tories you are probably still one of the younger members in your party. ;-)

At 3:27 PM, Blogger Paul Burgin said...

Pity you lacked the compassion ToryToryTory with three million unemployed being mentioned as a 'Price worth paying!'
I take it you watched the documentary with said title on BBC 4. The bit that made me laugh was Lord Harris and others thinking that full blown privatisation would free people up for the perfect society and a utopia. Such philosophies fail to take into account the failibility of human nature and tend to take an arrogant view of those who fall between the lines

At 3:56 PM, Blogger Kerron said...

Well if you will make Keith Harris a Lord...

..but that's the 1980s for you! :-)

At 4:29 PM, Blogger Paul Burgin said...

True!
It was when Orville talked about monetarism against macro economics that I became very frightened! :-)

At least we're not hypocrites. You lot pretend to be the only party who can help the poor, but when you get into power, you accept the Thatcher orthodoxy but spin it with a few nice compassionate words. Not to talk about the sleaze. Your 'holier than thou' and 'tough on sleaze, tough on the causes of sleaze' spin during the Major years looks pretentious now. zaNu-Labour's history of financial and institutional abuses of power goes to the very top. "I'm a straight kind of guy" Yeah right, here's my million, where's my peerage?

Which special school did she go to? And is still doing her A Levels like the last one.

At 9:16 AM, Blogger Paul Burgin said...

So Jack Dromey's public call for an enquiry is hypocritical is it?
At least we in the Labour Party feel anger and shame and want to get to the bottom of what is going on! One suspects that a no of senior Tories in the 90s, when they found out about these things within the Party, wanted it covered up so as to avoid the public backlash

Ahh, personal abuse the Lib Dem way, I do love you guys. (Actually, I've nothing to back up the allegation you are a Lib Dem except every other 'Anonymous' comment poster has been.)

No Gemma isn't doing her A-Levels, she is a TV extra, as I mentioned in the post (if you were paying attention). And she didn't go to a 'special' school - whatever you mean by that. She went to a normal state school in Ruislip - if there is such a thing as a normal state school in Ruislip!

And my ex isn't doing her A-Levels either. She's currently doing a Speech & Language Therapy degree course to enable her to go and work in the NHS - has been for a few years now.

If you could keep the pointless, mindless and groundless personal abuse to a minimum then I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

You have no private life Kerron - it's all here.

In relationship etiquette, when is the appropriate time to post pics of your partner on the internet?

NB - I think that louisa willoughby fancies you in case it all goes a bit pete.
